avatar Further to the issues with the logging over the last couple of days, the final plans for how game/Ares logging will be handled in Launch Base have been implemented as follows:

Launch Base Version 0.99.238 [2010-02-03]
  • (checkbox) Capture except.txt - Launch Base will either capture any except.txt files produced or delete them.
  • (checkbox) Prompt For except.txt Description - As always, gives you the option to enter a description for the except.txt file produced.
  • (checkbox) Enable Ares Logging - tells Ares whether or not to produce a debug.log file. Launch Base will make no attempt to intercept this.
  • (button) Open Ares' Debug Folder - opens the Debug folder in My Computer, so that you can manually review/housekeep the files produced by Ares.
  • DCoder will be restoring the generation of except.txt in Ares, although the filename will include a timestamp where appropriate.

avatar A rather useful update for Ares testers, this one.

Launch Base Version 0.99.236 [2010-02-01]
  • Under Update Options, you can now select whether to have Ares update using the Stable build or Nightly build (this has been approved by DCoder). Stable is the default, however it should be noted that no Stable build has yet been released.
  • Ares SVN URL and Paths have been de-hardcoded.
  • Updated logging handling to consider an Ares crash dump file as evidence of an Internal Error.
  • Ares crash dump files will now be processed (either moved to LaunchBase\Logs or deleted).

EDIT:
Shortly after releasing this I've become aware of a bug with the new log handling. Basically, anything produced by Ares will be ignored and, without Ares, even except.txt will be ignored. Apologies for this, it's due to the timings of when the Ares files are generated and how they are named (+ a coding error on my part). I know how I'm going to fix it but it will take a little while - will try to get it done in a day or so.

EDIT2:
Version 0.99.237 released. The Debug folder is, for now, ignored whilst further planning takes place.

Version 0.99.238 released. Final plans implemented.

  • Minor updates to Help Topics.
  • Fixed bug where mods would not activate all files correctly unless Recompile Mod was turned on.


Assault Map Packs 1+2 have now been released as a Launch Base plugin.

Launch Base Mod Creator Version 0.99.109 [2010-01-03]
  • Fixed bug where installers could not be created if an information page was included.
  • Assault Map Packs permitted in internal plugins.
  • Fixed bug with plugin security.lock generation that would result in returned security.keys being invalid.

Launch Base Version 0.99.234 [2009-12-24]
  • Warnings about low disk space on Launch Base start now display the disk space requirements in MB, not KB.
  • Added a new Ares section to the menu. The options to update Syringe/Ares and view the Ares manual have been moved here.
  • Added a form to allow the user to view/set Ares.ini settings from within Launch Base. These are NOT maintained by Launch Base - if a third party changes Ares.ini then Launch Base will not revert the changes. Available from the Ares menu.
  • Ares.ini is now a reserved filename and cannot be used by mods. It will be treated like an original game file.
  • Added support for FLAC files - Launch Base will now convert FLAC files to WAV automatically.
  • Fixed bug where mod display/launch sounds would not be played.
  • Added VideoBackBuffer and AllowVRAMSidebar options. Unlike the Ares.ini settings, these RA2MD.ini settings are maintained by Launch Base. Both revert to "no" if Advanced mode is turned off.


Launch Base Mod Creator Version 0.99.108 [2009-12-24]
  • FLAC files are now permitted wherever OGG files are permitted.
  • Added option to convert WAV files to FLAC automatically before adding them to generated installers. This option is on the Compression tab.

avatar Completely off-topic for this website but I just have to shout it out. I've met the most amazing woman - she's beautiful, smart, an amazing cook and could actually prove to be a challenge for me at numerous video games. I took her ice skating on our first date and, guys, I highly recommend it - it's a huge laugh and there's plenty of opportunity for innocent kino Smile

In other news, there has been a recent update to Launch Base and LB Mod Creator and I have started work on a Left 4 Dead campaign.

Project focus at the moment is on WC3 'Kingdom of Eternity' but you know me - I flit from one project to another so no release dates as of yet. Plus, as above, there's someone that I'll be devoting a lot of time to...

Still no pages for Purple Alert or Enemy Unknown. Sorry, I will get there in the end.
