Adding The 'Tiberian Sun: Firestorm' Soundtrack

The Tiberian Sun: Firestorm audio files are in a format that cannot be read by Yuri's Revenge, so they must be converted. You do not need to have Firestorm installed to extract the audio files; it can be done directly from the Tiberian Sun: Firestorm expansion game CD.

There are 10 music themes in Firestorm. The audio files must be converted from AUD to WAV. XCC Mixer can perform the conversion in a two-step process that must be repeated for each audio file.

Creating the Firestorm Music Pack:

  1. Refer to the following table to perform the directions below. Be sure to name the music pack filenames exactly, or the game will not find them; and name the mix file exactly as well, or the YR Playlist Manager will not recognize that you have the Firestorm music pack installed.

    ecachethemeFS.mix
    Track Title:Source File:Music Pack File:
    Deploy Machinesdmachine.auddmachine.wav
    Elusiveelusive.audelusive.wav
    Map Select Themefsmap.audfsmap.wav
    Menu Themefsmenu.audfsmenu.wav
    Hackerhacker.audhacker.wav
    Infiltrationinfiltra.audinfiltra.wav
    Killing Machinekmachine.audkmachine.wav
    Link Uplinkup.audlinkup.wav
    Rain in the Nightrainnite.audrainnite.wav
    Slave to the Systemslavesys.audslavesys.wav

  2. Insert the Firestorm CD into your CD drive. Using XCC Mixer, navigate to the CD's root directory. Open scores1.mix. [Help]

  3. Use XCC Mixer to convert (not extract) the files listed in the 'Source File' column of the table to WAV. You won't find the Menu or Map Select tracks here; you'll do that in the next step. [Help]

  4. Close scores1.mix, and open Install\expand01.mix. Convert (not extract) fsmap.aud and fsmenu.aud. [Help]

  5. The files are now in WAV format, but they do not use the proper compression. They must be converted again. Use XCC Mixer to now convert the WAV files you just created to 22.050 kHz WAV IMA ADPCM format. [Help]

  6. Create a new MIX file, and name it ecachethemeFS.mix. Insert the 10 tracks listed in the table into this MIX. [Help]

  7. Ensure that the new MIX file you have created is in your Red Alert 2 folder so the game can find it.

  8. If you wish, you can now delete the loose audio files you've been working with to create this music pack.

  9. Enable the Firestorm soundtrack using the Playlist Manager. During the game, the Firestorm music will be available.
